If texture capture is selected on the project creation step, during each scan a colored light pattern will be projected onto the object. Then, the 3D model will be overlaid with a picture, containing information about object surface color.

If the object color and the resulting model color differ significantly (the shades are different, or the image is too dark or too bright), it is necessary to run automatic white balance calculation. In order to do it, open Texture menu and press Automatic calculation button.

To automatically calculate the optimal exposition, projector brightness and white balance values it is needed to point the scanner onto a calibration field or a white sheet, set on the working distance in such a way, that the green area on the screen only captures the white surface.

Use the Test snap option to evaluate the quality of color rendition. This function displays a colored images from the cameras using current texture capture settings.

The new option to Turn off projector for texturing gives the ability to adapt to different lighting conditions by turning the projector on or off during texture capture phase.

This option becomes available in the Software settings menu when a project with texture is active.

By default the projector is used for texture capturing. This is optimal for diffused constant lighting and scanning surfaces without flares. When the lighting is low or the surface is shiny, flares from the projector and sharp shadows appear on curved surfaces, which in turn requires lower projector brightness for optimal texture capturing. When the Turn off projector for texturing option is enabled, projector brightness is set to 0 during texture capture phase (it stays the same during actual surface scanning).

Before scanning check the texture quality by making a test snap.
