Scanning on the turn table is performed without markers. Scanned object is installed on the platform of the table and is automatically scanned from multiple angles, allowing for
faster processing and model creation.
Before scanning, the turntable axis must be evaluated. It can be done in two ways:
- by object geometry,
- by calibration plate.
Scanning on the turntable with axis evaluation by calibration plate:
- Create new project with a turntable or open an existing one.
- Center the object on the platform of the table.
- Place the turn table to the scanner so that during scanning the object is on the optimal distance from the scanner.
- Configure exposure, brightness of lines and stripes, projector sharpness.
- Set the number of scans per the full turn of the table in the Positions field, or specify the set of rotation angles in angles in the Angles line.
- Remove the scanned object from the platform of the table and set a calibration plate instead. The size of this calibration plate should be one size smaller than the one used during the scanner calibration procedure. For axis evaluation of turntable on the 4th scan area you should use the plate "Evaluate rotation axis".
- Go to Clipping menu, set the scan area size based on the size of scanning object.
- Press the button Axis evaluation by plate in the Turntable menu.
- Carefully remove the plate and put the object back on the table, not changing the position of the scanner relative to the table.
- Start scanning.
- After the end of scanning go to Processing tab.
When scanning with axis evaluation by object geometry, the same actions are performed in the same order. Press the Axis evaluation by geometry button in Turntable menu, then make a scan of the turntable and surrounding surfaces without the object by pressing Scan the background. After that, put the object onto the turntable and press Evaluate axis.
In order for Axis evaluation by geometry to succeed, the object must have prominent geometry without repeating areas. Use Axis evaluation by a plate to scan smooth, symmetrical cylindrical and spherical objects.
