Measuring the center distance between two cylinders.
The software implements the measurement of the distance between the axes of the cylinders in several ways:
To start measurements, it is necessary to define two primitives on the mesh surface - Cylinder.
The definition of the Cylinder primitive is done in the Geometry widget.
Using any of the manual selection tools, select the triangles corresponding to the cylindrical surface and press the “Detect” button
It is not necessary to select all triangles of the surface to define a cylinder. In most cases it is sufficient to capture a little over 50% of the data.
Repeat the definition of the primitive for the second cylinder.
Next, go to the “Point” geometry widget, hide the 3d grids so that they do not overlap the selection when determining points on the axes of the cylinders.
Define 2 points on each axis of the two cylinders, after which you can turn on the display of the original geometry of the part.
Measurement method No. 1 - The shortest distance.
Go to the widget “point-to-point distance” and select two points between which we want to measure the distance. In the widget, we do not specify the direction of measurements - Axis - none.
An example of measuring the shortest distance between the axes of two cylinders.
Measurement method No. 2 - Distance along the system axis.
Go to the “point-to-point distance” widget, select two points between which we want to measure the distance and the axis along which we will measure.
