Going to Global registration menu allows you to apply custom settings and enable registration by selection, by markers or serial registration.

These options are disabled by default and registration is done by all geometry.

Enable Use selection to apply local registration to several meshes. This functions searches for matching geometry and is useful when trying to determine the best relative positions of reference and inspected meshes by base geometry.

In order to execute the command, matching mesh areas should be selected in the 3D scene.

In this example registration is done only by the working surface of the blade, which is important for quality control of profile manufacturing.

Markers registration is used to perform high-quality alignment of meshes which have too little surface information for regular geometry registration.

A common example of such project would be scanning a car windshield or roof.

Surface shapes like these do not allow the software to accurately perform global registration by geometry as there are not enough geometric features for alignment.

Using default Global registration in these situations might lead to great error accumulation, so we recommend to use projects with markers and activating Marker registration.

This feature ensures fixed positioning of initial scans in relation to markers.

Serial registration makes so that for every scan in the group, the previous scan is used as a reference for alignment. In projects with turntables this option is active by default. Besides projects with turntable it can improve alignment results in some cases.

Plane-point distance value determines the volume of the area used for searching matching geometry by the algorithm. Increasing this value will lead to longer processing times, but can improve the alignment result in some cases.

Default - when pressed, the button returns all widget parameters to their default values.

After choosing the options and parameters press Execute to run the registration.
